Embarassment

A friend of mine tagged me for my most embarassing moment. At first, I couldn't remember any. Well, that was short-lived! Then the memories came flooding in, one after another, after another. Ok, stop already!

And the winner this time is:

Falling Wedding Cake

I made a wedding cake for some friends that took a long time and turned out really nice. It was one out of a Martha Stewart Wedding magazine that I had been excited to make. Well, I usually make fake cakes, as so few people serve them these days, so I forgot to put dowels in the cake to keep it together. I had set it out on it's own table and it looked so nice when we left for The Temple.

In the middle of the sealing I suddenly had an awful feeling. I tried to hide my pain (that nobody seemed to notice anyway) as I realized my mistake and knew that the cake had fallen. Yes, for sure.

Right after the sealing, I skipped the photos, sped across town to where the cake was and confirmed my worst fears. Cake sideways. Thank goodness that Lin's was close by. I was able to get 3 replacements, decorate them, use a few glasses I keep in my cake tackle box to set the whole arrangement up and put a big smile on my face as everyone walked in as I put on the finishing touches. Nobody knew what had happened at first. Then the father of the bride said "Wasn't this a 3 layer cake when we left?" One just had to look on the counter just a few feet away to see the real story.

Yea, I really wanted to get away.
